The Avondale School District 21st Century Pathways Program encompasses the essential 21st Century skills of creativity, communication, collaboration and critical thinking.

Key Points of Interest
  • 9th and 10th grades are the essential building blocks for productive and progressive 11th and 12th grade years. The Pathways Program is an early start to helping students and families make informed decisions about 11th and 12th grade.
  • Based on hands-on, relevant and authentic exploratory learning experiences, at the end of the 10th grade year, students will make informed decisions on what Pathway they would like to follow in starting their 11th grade year.
  • ALL learners from different walks of life will have the opportunity to participate in a Pathway that works best for their skills, goals and areas of interest.
  • Program expands awareness of post-secondary skills / education options.
  • College and career experienced students are college and career ready.
The 21st Century Pathways Program Encompasses the Following Principles:
  • Academic Preparation and Alignment
  • 21st Century Skill Development: Creativity, Communications, Collaboration and Critical Thinking
  • Social Maturity and Development: Maturity, Responsibility, Self-Advocacy, Self-Awarness, and Interpersonal Skills.
Guidance and Support

What makes Pathways unique is the guidance and support offered to students during their 9th and 10th grade years in an effort to help them make informed decisions that impact the rest of their high school years and beyond. 

Summer support sessions combined with frequently scheduled seminars during the school year will be offered to all students who are part of the Pathways Program. Topics and experiences include, but are not limited to: field trips, team building, campus tours, guest speakers, study skills, time management, job shadowing, portfolio development, career exploration, community service and character education.

Specialty Programming
for the 21st Century
  • Through the Avondale School District / Baker College Early College Program, students earn their high school diploma while also earning their Associate Degree from Baker College. Download the application here.

  • The MEEMIC Risk Management / Insurance Certification Program is an opportunity for students  to graduate high school with college credits from Olivet College, earn a certification from the Insurance institute of America and learn from professionals in the insurance industry.   • Project Lead the Way is an opportunity for students to earn Computer Technology certifications and take Advanced Placement exams for possible college credit. Students graduate ready for entry into the workplace (if they choose) or with a solid foundation of certificates to continue building their IT portfolio after graduation.   • OSTC Programs - students can earn college credit or real-world credentialing for vocational careers

  • Dual Enrollment and Advanced Placement classes also available
