Baker Early College

Graduates
The Early College Program, available to Avondale High School students, is possible through a partnership between the Baker College and Avondale School District.

The program is for students interested in earning an Associate Degree from Baker College while earning their high school diploma from Avondale High School. 

PROGRAM SUMMARY
  • The program is FREE to Avondale High School students
  • Students must take a fifth year of high school to complete the program and receive their diploma and Associate Degree
  • While enrolled in the program, and until students complete their 4th year of high school, they are able to participate in extra-curricular athletics and clubs 
  • Students participate in graduation and other "senior year" activities with their "graduating" class 
  • Students receive support to develop "college skills"
THE BAKER DIFFERENCE

  • Baker College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is an Academic Quality Improvement Program participant. In addition, the college holds program accreditation for certificates and degrees in business, engineering, education, nursing, health sciences, and human services.
  • Baker College students benefit from the Real-world Instructors who are professionals with years of experience in the field they teach - bringing a deeper level of understanding and meaning to the curriculum.
  • Baker College provides graduates with Lifetime Employment Assistance. Upon graduation, employment experts work with students to develop an employment strategy, make contacts, prepare for interviews, and assist with a resume and cover letter.
  • Baker College Employer/Industry Advisory Boards review and evaluate programming and provide insight and guidance to the college relative to industry trends and real-world needs.

Avondale School District engages with local businesses and organizations as well as institutions of higher learning in order to provide unique programming for our students. 

We know that our students have individual strengths and interests and dreams that require us to think beyond the traditional classroom. We align with partners who support us in our efforts to provide our students with relevant and authentic learning experiences.
