About the Avondale School District
The Avondale School District is part of four very progressive municipalities in Oakland County: Auburn Hills, Rochester Hills, Troy and Bloomfield Township. The almost 3,800 student district consists of four elementary schools (Grades K-5), one middle school (Grades 6-8), one high school (Grades 9-12), one Alternative high school, the Avondale SKILL Program servicing 18 - 26 year old students with a learning impairment, two Early Learning Centers and a Montessori Preschool.
Avondale School District administrators and staff believe that parents are important partners in the educational process. If at any time you have questions regarding your child, their education or the school, please contact your child's teacher or principal.
In addition to important communication between school and home, opportunities throughout the school year for parent involvement include:
Parent-teacher conferences - conducted in the fall and spring.
The elementary Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is very active in Avondale School District. Members enjoy working toward the improvement and enhancement of school programming. Parents are also encouraged to volunteer their time and expertise as library assistants, room parents and in many other capacities.
For more information about becoming a volunteer, contact your school principal.
Parents are also welcome to attend the Avondale Board of Education meetings, held in the Administrative Offices, 2940 Waukegan Street in Auburn Hills. The board typically meets at 7:00pm on the first and third Monday of each month.
To help parents stay connected, an elementary school newsletter and various notices are sent home frequently during the school year. Also, each Avondale School District school has a home web page supplementing the District’s main web page which can found at www.avondaleschools.org.
Welcome from Avondale Superintendent,
Dr. James Schwarz
We are excited to welcome you and your child to the wonderful world of Kindergarten! I am pleased to introduce you to all that the Avondale School District has to offer and thank you for entrusting us with your child's education. Entering Kindergarten is an important and exciting milestone for both you and your child. We are committed to ensure your child's first experiences as a new kindergartner are fun, positive and educationally rewarding.
Just as your child has been developing as a young learner these last couple of years, so too has the District's emphasis on early childhood education. Avondale has made a tremendous investment in staff and facilities and offers a wide range of programming for your child.
Because there are differences among children's needs, interests and rates of development, Avondale School District offers targeted learning opportunities that match your child's stage of progress.
Kindergarten enrollment is an opportunity for both home and the school to begin sharing information about our child. Our staff members have years of experience in gathering data throughout the enrollment process and encourage you to be an active participant. Please feel free to ask questions or initiate discussion on any topic regarding your child's upcoming Kindergarten experience. We value your feedback and want to hear from you.
In the meantime, the entire Avondale School District staff looks forward to working together with you and your kindergartner as they begin their educational journey.
Please let us know if we can ever assist you in anyway and again - welcome!
